Race2MVP
1. Dwyane Wade: Miami HEAT: Record 36-32

Wade is not only the most valuable player to the Miami HEAT, as they felt his absence in their OT lost to the Boston Celtics, but in New Jersey when he came back, he received a louder ovation than the entire New Jersey team combined… What does that say? People come to watch Wade play where ever he goes, he is valuable to the league. I also believe that if Wade was playing the Boston game, the HEAT would have easily won that game. Wade is having a stellar season on offense and defense (he ranks first in points per game, second in steals per game, and is the best shot-blocking guard in the NBA. Miami, This is HIS House!
2. Lebron James: Cleveland Cavaliers: Record 55-13
Just because LeBron’s team has the best record in the league, it doesn’t mean he deserves the MVP award. I know that LeBron is a great player and I’m not saying he’s not a great player, he is. But, the fact that LeBron is not single handily takinghis team to the playoffs makes me wonder.. What if the Cavs had Wade and the HEAT had LeBron? Miami would not make the playoffs, and the Cavs still would. I maybe wrong but I’m certain that Miami would not be the 5th seed right now if it wasn’t for Wade.
3. Dwight Howard: Orlando Magic: Record 50-18
Howard is having the best season of his career so far. I give some of this credit to two men, Stan Van Gundy and Patrick Ewing. The Head Coach and the Assistant Coach of the Magic. Lakers coach Phil Jackson told NBA.com that he has taken note of Howard’s improvement: “He should be [in the MVP race]. His team is playing exceptionally well. I always questioned whether Dwight had a well-rounded game, whether he was all dunks or not. This year he’s shown he’s got a left hand, he makes some free throws, his improvement has helped Orlando be a consistent team.”
4. Kobe Bryant: Los Angeles Lakers: Record 54-14
Surprised Kobe is so low in the rankings? Well I’m not. I have to give Kobe his respect, he’s a great player and he was the MVP last year because he deserved it but this year, he deserves it as much as the Oklahoma City Thunder deserve to win the Finals.. . Meaning he shouldn’t. This year he has a great supporting cast around him that also has something to prove. Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol, Derick Fisher, and Luke Walton all want to prove to the NBA nation that they are a championship team and will win it all. Now, if Kobe had a bunch of inexperienced players on his team and they were still in the playoff hunt, we would see him win Back-to-Back MVPs.
5. Chris Paul: New Orleans Hornets: Record 42-25
Chris is most likely going to round out the top 5. Last year, him a Kobe were neck-to-neck and this year, his stats are all execptional, his only fault is his assists. I think that what happened was that Paul was hurt for a period this year and that might have hurt his chances. That and just the fact that the Hornets as a team have underachieved this season. Hornets play-by-play man Bob Licht wrote that everyone should take CP3 little more seriously. Should we?
